HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Four people were hurt in a traffic accident at the intersection of Highway 72 and Moores Mill Road on Monday.  It happened about 8 a.m.

The intersection is open again.  Traffic was diverted for a time onto Harris Hills Boulevard, but was slow there as well due to rush-hour congestion.

The collision happened in the west bound lanes of Highway 72.  Police are still investigating the cause.

A Huntsville police car was involved, and the officer is one of four people sent to Huntsville Hospital.  All should be okay, according to Harry Hobbs, spokesperson for the Huntsville Police Department.

The officer was off duty, Hobbs said.

Police say no vehicles involved in the wreck had any passengers.
