Closing One Door, Opening Another: Neo Mode Prepares for Move
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The proposed Walmart at Mason Plaza is starting to take shape. Before it does, businesses on the property must move out. Neo Mode has been at their Mason Plaza location for 24 years. With the new property development coming, the salon is being forced to re-locate. Today is their last day at the Parkway location, but it’s the also the beginning of a new era for the salon.
Co-owner Angie Helms said she knew this day was coming. “Our landlords had to contact us so we’ve known for about 2 years, that this was going to happen,” she said. “Because we had a long lease, they had to negotiate with us, it hasn’t really been a surprise.”
The salon was waiting to hear about the logistics of the property change. “The word came in July and we got our notice,” said Helms. “We’ve been fortunate to find a place to house all of us so we’re excited to keep being a family.”
Over two decades of memories remain in the walls at Neo Mode’s parkway location. “We were young, and now we’ve had our children and our family has supported us, it’s just going to be different, very different, but we welcome it,” she said.
“We have married people here,” said stylist Kim Potts. “We have raised children here, we have laid our friends to rest, we’ve been through so many different things, these walls hold a lot of memories that we’ll be sure to take with us.”
“I go where she goes,” said Pott’s client, sitting in a chair. Neo Mode is making sure that their customers know they are moving to a new location. The salon is re-locating to the Publix shopping center on Whitesburg Drive in between Hallmark and T-Mobile.
