Huntsville Police: 5-Year-Old Child Injured After Picking Up Pellet Gun

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police say a 5-year-old child was injured by a pellet gun on Thursday afternoon.

The 5-year-old boy was playing near a residence in the 2200 block of Atkins Drive just before 4 p.m.  Police say the child found a pellet gun on the front porch of the home, then picked it up and accidentally shot himself in the stomach.


The boy was taken back to his home and later transported to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children.  Police say the boy should be okay.
