FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT)-  Florence Police arrested 31-year-old David Erick Gray on Thursday and charged him with 150 counts of Unlawful Posession of Child Pornography. Florence Police said the arrest was made after a week-long investigation.

"There was a person that got on his computer and was looking around and they found it and called us," said Investigator Keith Johnson with the Florence Police Department. Johnson said FPD started the investigation Wednesday. A search warrant was executed late Thursday, which led to the charges.

"The forensic guy that does the computers, he's only done a preliminary on the electronics that we seized, and came up with 150," said Johnson. "But he's still got some more electronics to go through, there could be more charges at a later date."

Johnson said he believes the child pornography was downloaded, not taken of local children. "I am not 100 percent sure but I think they are downloaded children," he said. "Until the forensic tech guy gets through, I don't think there was any local children on these but he's still doing his forensics on the computers."

Either way, Johnson said the FPD is serious when it comes to these types of cases. "I don't understand why these people look at child porn but it's very important to protect the children in the community."

Gray is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond.
