Sheriff: Inmate Attacks Employee at Morgan County Jail

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT)  A detention deputy suffered facial cuts, a broken nose and a cracked ocular bone during a fight with a federal prisoner being held at the Morgan County Jail.

According to Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin detention deputy Seth Hazen was attacked by inmate Cedric Noland Sunday evening. Franklin says the deputy is going to be "okay" but his injuries did require stitches.

Noland faces second degree assault charges and additional bond of $5,000.

There are currently 36 federal inmates housed in the jail along with county inmates, according to Sheriff Franklin.

The investigation is still ongoing.
