FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) It's out with the old, and in with new for students at the University of North Alabama.

Students are swapping their t-shirts, to build the pride, and promote school spirit.

Most days it doesn't take long to spot someone supporting another school, as students walk to class at UNA.

“I`m proud of UNA, I like UNA,” said a student wearing a Crimson Tide shirt.  WHNT asked:  “What about the shirt?”  “Well I like Alabama too.”

It's this mindset, the Student Government Association is trying to eliminate.

“We are building the pride on campus and it`s really important to support our college t-shirts,” said UNA Senate Vice President, Nikki Messer.  “You shouldn`t go around saying ‘Roll Tide’ or anything else other than ‘Roar Lions’ really, because this is our school, we want to take pride in our school.”

As part of Wear Your Colors day at UNA, students swap out an old high school or university t-shirt, for UNA gear.

“You see people wearing the shirt, more people will want to wear it and it brings the whole school together,” said freshman Donald Causey, who traded in a shirt for a UNA shirt.

The old t-shirts swapped in will be donated to charity.
