(WHNT) - Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks was our guest for Week 7 of Leadership Perspectives.  He previously served on the Athens City Council.

Mayor Marks says he is conservative with front-end budgeting in order to have money toward the end of the year.  When that's the case, he looks on how to improve the city's fleet - including police cars and garbage trucks.

He says he loves being mayor and encourages city employees, including police, to go in businesses and schools to meet people and talk with them.

"We are here to provide services to citizens," said Marks. "Let's do it in the most professional way we can."

Mayor Marks also said he isn't sure about the 2016 mayor's race yet.
