Gun Brought by 5-year-old Goes Off at Memphis School

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) – A gun brought by a 5-year-old student went off Thursday morning at Westside Elementary.

Memphis Police say no one was hurt.  The child is in police custody.

The gun, which was in a backpack at the time, went off in the cafeteria.  Parents say the school didn’t notify them – instead, they said they learned of the incident through news reports.
