Huntsville Police Officer Charged with Domestic Violence

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office says a Huntsville Police officer has been charged with domestic violence.

The officer, Jacob Askins, was arrested last night around 11 p.m. Sgt. Brian Chaffin says sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call.  He did not specify the location.

Askins was arrested at the scene and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence 3rd.

Askins is on administrative leave from the Huntsville Police Department, said spokesperson Harry Hobbs.  Askins' status will be reviewed upon the completion of an internal investigation and the disposition of their case through the judicial system.
