FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - Florence Police are asking for the public's help to find a man wanted for questioning in a recent murder.  They also want to talk to anyone who had contact with him.

The man, Eugene Lee Jones, is homeless and from the Birmingham area.  Police know he came to Florence this summer and stayed with several people in the area for about three weeks.

They want to talk with him about the murder of Lula Addison, who was found dead in the City Lodge motel in late July.

People may know him as "Gene." He is black, 6'2", about 202 pounds and has a dark complexion and gray facial hair.

Police say Jones had rented the hotel room on Thursday, July 25.  They have not released the timeline of when Addison died yet.

Police say Jones was arrested Monday, July 29 in Florence and taken to the Bessemer City Jail on outstanding warrants with that agency. He was later released.

Police say "Gene" may have had contact with people in the Florence area, and also ask for those people to contact them.  They are interested in talking with anyone who saw Jones, or spoke with him or let him stay at their house from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28.

Any information about this case is important and may help solve the case.  If you had contact with Jones, police urge you to call (256) 768-2764 or the Shoals Area CrimeStoppers at (256) 386-8685.

Police also thank Ms. Addison's family for their patience.

"This case is still our highest priority and we want to bring their loved one’s killer to justice," police said.
