HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Huntsville fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire at a home in north Huntsville.

The home is on Calvary Street, just north of University Drive.

Passersby on Pulaski Pike saw flames shooting from the home. They called 911 at about 2:30 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, the home was engulfed in flames. They called in extra firemen to help put out the fire.

The home is a total loss. The flames were so hot, they melted the siding on a home next door.

Neighbors say the house has been abandoned for some time.
