(CNN) – Former president George H.W. Bush has a bold new look to show support for a young cancer patient.

The 41st president shaved his head to show solidarity with Patrick, a two-year-old battling leukemia.

You can see them both in this photo released by the former president’s office.

Bush made the decision after seeing members of his secret service team had shaved their heads.  Patrick is the son of one of those secret service members.

The former president also made a donation to Patrick’s leukemia treatment.

Bush and his wife Barbara lost their second child, Robin, to leukemia six decades ago.
