Alabama’s Largest Mall Opens in Huntsville in 1984

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Madison Square Mall opened its doors in August of 1984 as Alabama's largest mall.

At the time of the opening, Tennessee Valley residents dubbed the shopping center the "Super Mall."

Today, Madison Square Mall is Huntsville's largest enclosed shopping center encompassing than 900,000 feet. The mall is also the city's oldest existing enclosed shopping mall.
