Rain at 3:05 p.m. Friday

Rain has increased in coverage over the last few showers. As of 3pm, the heaviest rain falls along I-565 from the Huntsville International Airport to downtown. Around heavy shower is near Phil Campbell. Look for rain to move from south to north through the evening and overnight.

Look at all the moisture along the Gulf Coast! Heavy rain continues to our south and most of that heads our way tonight. It’s not going to be a good beach weekend as rain and storms continue along with a high surf advisory. Dangerous rip currents are also possible through the weekend from Alabama to Florida. Some parts of the Tennessee Valley have seen over 8″ of rainfall and more is on the way tonight and through the weekend.

How much rain falls? The Hydrometeorological Prediction Center has the Tennessee Valley receiving around 2″-3″ of rainfall between now and Saturday evening. As we know, if you get heavy downpours or training, higher amounts are possible like we saw on Thursday. Please be careful if you are on the roads this weekend and don’t cross where water covers the road. Remember there are more people on the road with it being the July of 4th weekend. Here is precipitation for the Tennessee Valley. Notice our area is under the darker maroon for heavy precipitation.
