MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) – Planned Parenthood and a Montgomery clinic filed a lawsuit challenging a new law requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, prompting a judge to temporarily place the law on hold, according to our news partner

Planned Parenthood and the clinic argued that the law, scheduled to go into effect on Monday, was medically unnecessary and will result in the closure of three of the state’s five abortion clinics.

The injunction against the law lasts until July 12.
