U.S. Army Turns 238 Years Old

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (WHNT) - Redstone Arsenal is hosting a celebration today to mark the Army's 238th birthday.

This morning, Redstone Arsenal hosted a 5K and 2.5K Fun Run. That began at 6 a.m. at the Main Exchange parking lot. Everyone who works on the arsenal was invited to participate.

Later, at the Von Braun Complex III auditorium, the birthday celebrations continue. At 2:30 p.m., Army Space and Missile Defense Command and Army Forces Strategic Command will host a program that reflects on the role America's veterans play in today's Army.

Honored guests at the event include residents of the Floyd E. "Tut" Fann Veterans Home who served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The command will uncase a new command flag during the ceremony. After the event, they will cut case and play the Army song.
