HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- City workers say they have had a large spike in building permits in recent months and that indicates positive growth for Huntsville.

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle says last month there were nearly 150 more permit applications than the average for May. According to the mayor June is seeing large numbers already.

"The permit requests indicate positive growth for our city we need to do what we can to keep up with the growth demands," Battle said Monday.
