Memon’s Parents Still Face Trials

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Hammad Memon's parents still face their court battles after their son pleaded guilty to murder on Tuesday.  Both are accused of trying to help him flee the country last year.

Court documents indicate Hammad's mother, Safia, has an arraignment scheduled for August 16.  Her trial is scheduled for August 19.

Safia is accused of attempting to help her son leave the country prior to his trial.

Both Safia, and Hammad's father, Dr. Iqbal Memon, are charged with hindering prosecution.  Iqbal Memon has a court date scheduled for august 5th.

Neither parent was present for their son's court appearance on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to the 2010 murder of Todd Brown.  The judge sentenced Hammad Memon to 30 years in prison.
