LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Volunteer firefighters from three area fire departments responded to a blaze in a Hickory Hills Road home early Wednesday morning. The house is located less than a mile off Elk River Mill Road.

Flames had already pierced the roof when firefighters made entrance to the home. One firefighter tells WHNT News 19 the flames spread across the house once it got into the attic making it difficult to contain the damage.

Owens VFD took the initial call just after 6AM Wednesday morning. Additional support from Pleasant Grove VFD and West Limestone VFD was called in.

Damage to the home was described as extensive. Firefighters say it would take some time to pinpoint the cause of the blaze. Residents of the home managed to escape without injury.
