Madison AL, (WHNT)   The Huntsville Madison County Auburn Club raises money every year to send two local students to Auburn University. This time around club member Lee Thompson decided to incorporate crossfit with a scholarship fundraiser.

"it's so important here because out of almost 100 clubs across the country, we are the only one that gives scholarships to local students," Thompson said at Crossfit Nomad in Madison.

The "Beast of the Valley" competition this Saturday June 1st is giving athletes from North Alabama and across the country and chance to prove they are the fittest, while also helping a good cause.

Crossfit coach Adam Dawkins says it's not about winning a prize, "It's probably pride over anything else. We do this everyday but it's just more incentive to come out knowing it's all for a good cause."

Crossfit Nomad and Woody Anderson Ford in Fayetteville are the two major sponsors for the event which Thompson says wouldn't be possible without their help. It is a partnership between those sponsors and the communities they serve which gives some students the chance to succeed in life.
