Cotton Row Run Is Monday: Cheer On The Runners!

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The city’s Memorial Day tradition, the Cotton Row Run, is Monday and approximately 5,000 people are expected to participate.

The 10K race starts at 7 a.m.  The 5K starts at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile Fun Run and Patriot Walk is at 10 a.m.  Each race starts at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Monroe Street.

cotton_row_logo300If you’re running in one of the races, good luck!  Remember to hydrate and stretch before and after.  It’s not too late to sign up – you can register at Fleet Feet in Jones Valley on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Sunday at the VBC from 1-6 p.m. at the packet pickup/expo event.

If you’re not in one of the races, come out and cheer on the runners.  It’s an exciting day and they love your encouragement to help them keep going.  Wear your red, white and blue!

Huntsville Police will have several streets closed Monday morning.  Here are the various courses:

10K Course: Start on Clinton Avenue on the east side of the intersection at Monroe Street and travel east to make a right turn to travel south on Church Street, make a left turn to travel east on Lowe Avenue and cross over California Street on to Fraser Avenue, bear right on to Sierra Boulevard, make a left turn to travel north on Carmelian Street, make a right turn to travel east on McClung Avenue, make a left turn to travel north on Owens Drive, make a left turn to Mountainwood Drive, turn right to travel north on Tollgate Road, make a left turn to travel west on Bankhead Parkway and follow it until it crosses Maysville Road and changes to Pratt Avenue, make a left turn to travel south on Grayson Avenue, make a right turn to travel west on Clinton Avenue, make a left turn to travel south on White Street, make a right turn to travel west on Randolph Avenue, make a right turn to travel north on Washington Street, make a left turn to travel west on Clinton Avenue and finish on Clinton Avenue between Monroe Street and Pollard Street.

5K Course: Start on Clinton Avenue between Pollard Street and Monroe Street and travel east to make a left turn to travel north on Lincoln Street, make a left turn to travel west on Holmes Avenue, make a right turn to travel north then east on Monroe Street, make a left turn to travel east on Holmes Avenue, make a right turn to travel south on White Street, make a right turn to travel west on Randolph Avenue, make a right turn to travel north on Washington Street, make a left turn to travel west on Clinton Avenue and finish on Clinton Avenue between Monroe Street and Pollard Street.

One Mile Fun Run Course: Start on Clinton Avenue on the west side of the intersection at Monroe Street and travel east, make a left turn to travel north on Green Street, make a left turn to travel west on Holmes Avenue, make a left turn to travel south on Spragins Avenue, make a right turn to travel west on Clinton Avenue and finish between Monroe Street and Pollard Street. Patriot Walk: Start on Clinton Avenue on the west side of the intersection at Monroe Street and travel east, make a left turn to travel north on Green Street, make a left turn to travel west on Holmes Avenue, make a left turn to travel south on Spragins Avenue, make a right turn to travel west on Clinton Avenue and finish between Monroe Street and Pollard Street.

Organizers are asking everyone involved — runners and crowds — be patriotic and wear red, white and blue!
