HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - This Saturday, May 4, there's a sporting competition geared for young children at Big Spring Park.  It promises to be a sight to see -- look for the Tykes on Trikes!

The Downtown YMCA is hosting the event, which is from 9 to 11 a.m.  Children, bring your tricycles and get ready to ride around the park!  No big bikes or bikes with training wheels - tricycles only.  The first 50 children to register get a free t-shirt and racing bib.

The cost is $15 for one child, $25 for two children and $35 for a family with three children.  Register online or by calling the YMCA at (256) 319-YMCA.

There will also be characters, door prizes, sidewalk chalk, hula hooping and face painting.

Money raised through Tykes on Trikes benefits the YMCA's Annual Giving Campaign, which raises money for local families in our community.  The campaign helps fund numerous Y programs, including funding for single parents to send children to pre-school, and membership scholarships for military families so they can attend the Y while their spouse is away on duty.  Your donations to the Y's Annual Giving Campaign stay here in the Tennessee Valley to help local families.  Read more here.
