Terry Wayne Myers

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A Kentucky man who escaped from the Lauderdale County Jail nearly two weeks ago has been caught.

Terry Wayne Myers was caught late Thursday night, May 2, near the Tennessee/Kentucky line.  U.S. Marshals arrested him after a two-hour standoff in a wooded area near Interstate 75 in Laurel County, Kentucky.  He was found at his mother’s house, and investigators say tips from the public helped locate Myers.

Myers is being held in London, Kentucky.  No word when he will return to north Alabama.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis says Myers escaped from the detention center on April 22 through an air shaft that led to the roof of the building.

Myers was scheduled to be arraigned in Circuit Court on April 30, after being indicted for previously escaping Lauderdale County work release.
