(WHNT & CNN) – American Airlines says its computer systems are back online, but the airline company expects more delays and cancellations for the rest of the day.

American reported intermittent outages earlier in the day that caused a system-wide ground delay.

At 4 p.m. CST, the company’s website said all flights would be held on the ground until later Tuesday.

“We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as we can, and we apologize to our customers for this inconvenience,” the website statement said.

American estimates it flies about 275,000 passengers a day and receives more than 239,000 reservations calls.
