Decatur Police Investigate Homicide, Victim Identified

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – On Monday, Decatur police officers responded to a residence on 15th Ave. in response to a call reporting an unresponsive female.

Officers arrived to the residence and located the body of a woman inside. Her death is being treated as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 31 year old Ana Chavez who lived at that residence with her husband and two children. The husband and children have been accounted for and are safe.

Ms. Chavez’s body will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for autopsy.  Friends and family members of Ms. Chavez are currently at the Decatur Police Department being interviewed by investigators.  At this time additional investigators are still at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

No one has been charged and no individuals are in custody in connection with the death at this time.
