One Person Killed in Wreck on I-65

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Emergency personnel responded to a fatal wreck on I-65 around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. It happened on the interstate just past south of the rocket in Limestone County.

Alabama State Troopers told WHNT News 19 that a maroon SUV was traveling northbound when it crossed two lanes of traffic, went down an embankment, hit a cement drainage ditch, and flipped multiple times. Troopers estimate that the vehicle flipped around seven times.

There were two people in the vehicle. The female passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the wreck. No names have been released yet.
