DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A single-vehicle crash early this morning claimed the life of a Fort Payne man.

Alabama State Troopers say the crash occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on DeKalb County 83 approximately five miles north of Collinsville.

According to state troopers, Fed Quinton Terrell, 68, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu when he ran off the roadway and into a creek. Terrell was pronounced dead at the scene and troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt.

Although the crash is still under investigation, Alabama State Troopers say alcohol was a factor.
