Update: Victim’s Name Released from Fatal Wreck On Winchester Rd.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police closed Winchester Road from Bradford to Homer Nance for at least an hour Sunday afternoon because of a fatal wreck.

Police say 23-year-old Carolyn Jean Parker was exiting the CVS store at the intersection of Winchester Road and Homer Nance Road and was attempting to turn left onto Winchester Road to travel westbound. A second vehicle traveling eastbound was coming at the posted speed limit (45 mph) when the vehicles collided, according to police. Police say that the approaching vehicle stuck Carolyn Parker in the driver side door. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police conducted a thorough investigation and say along with witness statements, it was determined the the victim did not yield the right of way to the approaching traffic.

No criminal charges were filed in the accident.
