Johnson High School Raising Support for Marching Band

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The J.O. Johnson High School Band Boosters Association will be hosting a one day community-wide fundraiser designed to raise $35,000.00 towards the travel expenses of the band’s invitation to participate in the Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC on Saturday, Mar 30.

U. S. Senator Richard Shelby invited J.O. Johnson High School’s band to represent the entire state of Alabama in the parade.  In order to fund the trip, the J.O. Johnson High School Band Boosters Association needs the help of the entire community. The total cost for transportation, hotel, meals, and educational activities totals $62,000.00. To date, the band boosters have raised $25,000.00.

Donations can be dropped off at the north parkway K-Mart on March 30th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or contributions can be made at: Paypal – or BBVA Compass Bank - JOJBBAI-DC ACCOUNT

This event is very important in an effort to provide the band students an educational opportunity. The J.O. Johnson Band is known regionally for it’s superior show band abilities. Steve Johnson, Director of Bands is known nationally for assisting all of his graduating seniors with getting college scholarships.
