Huntsville, Ala. – As rain poured into the Huntsville area yet again, today’s baseball game between the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Delta State was canceled due to heavy rains and poor field conditions. The game will officially be scored as a 1-1 tie.

UAH (21-6-1, 6-2-1 GSC) and Delta State (22-4-1, 7-2-1 GSC) resumed play from a game postponed yesterday in the top of the fourth inning, but heavy rains came back into the Huntsville area in the top of the seventh and caused a postponement which was later turned into a cancellation.

Because the game was played into the seventh inning, the game will go down as a 1-1 tie. Delta State began the resumed game with a 1-0 lead, but UAH plated a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game up.  Blake Massey lined a single to center field, which brought Jud Sherrill across the plate.

In what was originally supposed to be a three-game series and crucial battle between ranked teams, will now turn into a one-game tie. No make-up date has been announced and may not be, as the two teams have a full schedule the remainder of the season.

UAH will return to Charger Park this coming weekend, when they welcome in the current sixth-ranked team in the country, West Florida. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, March 29, beginning at 3 p.m. and a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
