HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Today is the first day of NCAA tournament play. Or as one local Huntsville Times sports guru refers to it, "Mark's Madness."

Mark McCarter says it's becoming an annual tradition. He sets up shop at a table at Buffalo Wild Wings in Jones Valley and he sits there, all day. Sixteen games, countless refills of sweet tea and numerous friends stop by throughout the day to join McCarter in kicking off the start of the craziness.

"This is the fourth year I've done the tournament here like this," he said. "It just keeps getting bigger and bigger, this table will have a rotating bunch that joins me."

McCarter says throughout the day he will have friends from The Huntsville Times, family members, and even UAH basketball players stop by. Of course they grab a few chicken wings, pull up a chair, and enjoy the festivities that is the NCAA tournament.

McCarter says this is one of his favorite times of the year. He told me he thinks the start of the games are exciting for fans of all teams.

"Everything is so unpredictable," McCarter said. "You have the upsets, the charming little teams we've never heard of except their names on a crawl with their score and we don't know anything about these teams, but next thing you know, they're going to knock off one of these big time teams."

"There's always a Cinderella story."
