Yuri’s Night Party Celebrates 52 Years Since the First Manned Space Flight

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – On Saturday, April 13, Huntsville will play host to the premier Yuri’s Night Event at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration.

The event will be one of more than 1,000 officially registered parties in over 100 countries on all 7 continents. Yuri’s Night will celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the first manned space flight while also educating the local community about the importance of space exploration.

All proceeds raised will benefit C.A.J.A. Friends, a local program dedicated to helping abused and neglected children in Madison County.  The acronym CAJA stands for Court Appointed Juvenile Advocates.

From 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. in the Saturn Hall of the Davidson Center, the crowds will gather to join in this unique costumed celebration. America’s Party Pros Disc Jockey service will be providing additional entertainment throughout the night as well.

There will be a costume contest and prizes for the best “Space” costume. Cash bars will be available in the separate 21+ area and tickets are only $25 at the door. No family will have to purchase more than 4 tickets, no matter their size. And children 12 and under are FREE.

From 6-8 p.m., the party is family focused and admission for children 12 and under is free.

At 8 p.m., the bars open, the DJ, music videos and the Laser Light Show will begin.

CAJA volunteers are appointed by judges as Officers of the Court to objectively investigate child abuse and neglect cases. CAJA volunteers come from all professions – teachers, engineers, auto workers, homemakers, college students.
