COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Dozens of volunteer firefighters and neighbors willing to help, responded to a home with storm damage on Blue Road in Colbert County Monday afternoon.

Heavy winds brought down trees and debris on top of a home.  One person was inside when the storm swept through.

“I heard this really loud boom,” said Kayla Whittle who was inside her home.   “I didn`t think anything of it until I looked out and saw a tree and I was scared.

As soon as Kayla's husband, Robbie got home, he was panicked by what he saw; but also by what he didn't see.  “I go in the house, and she`s not there,” said Robbie.

Then, Whittle found his wife.  She was shaken, but safe.

“Anything could happen in a situation like this,” said Robbie Whittle.

According to Whittle, he noticed an inch of standing water in his bedroom, cracks down his walls, and a gaping hole in the roof.
