CADDO, Ala. (WHNT) – The Caddo Volunteer Fire Department and Lawrence County Road Department responded to a sinkhole that formed at the intersection of County Road 331 and County Road 87 in Caddo.

WHNT News 19’s crew on the scene reports that the sinkhole is about 6 inches around and has formed at the edge of the roadway.  It appears as if a drain pipe separated underground, causing the ground to become unstable.

A concerned citizen reported the sinkhole after reading about a Florida man who was asleep when a sinkhole opened underneath his bed, killing him and destroying his family’s house.

The Caddo Volunteer Fire Dept. and Lawrence County Road Dept. are alerting the proper authorities to survey the damage and handle it properly.
