NEW MARKET, Ala. (WHNT) --  Emergency workers tell WHNT News 19 that two people passed away in an overnight house fire on Walnut Grove Road in New Market.

Madison Country Fire Marshals Responded to a call just after 11:30 Saturday night.

Family members identified the men as DeWayne Mitchell and Anthony Buchanan. Buchanan's nephew says the home belonged to DeWayne and his young son, who was staying at a friend's home Saturday night.

Firefighters worked into the morning to put out the fire. The cause is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected at this time. Family members tell WHNT News 19 they believe the fire was started by a wood-burning stove, used to keep the home warm.
