House Destroyed in Overnight Fire

A home caught fire overnight in Southeast Huntsville. It started close to midnight in the 2500-block of Guenevere Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, flames and heavy smoke were shooting from the home. Crews called in for extra manpower to help get the fire under control. It took about an hour to put out the fire.

WHNT News 19's Jeff Gray spoke with the homeowner, who said he awoke to a loud "pop" and saw the kitchen was on fire.

He was able to wake up everyone in his house and get them out safely.

However, the home is a total loss.
