Arab Wrestling Sending 13 to State

Arab won the 5A Wrestling State Championship in 2011, but head coach Michael Pruitt thinks this year's team has potential to be even better.
"from top to bottom, this is the best team we've put out there ever," Pruitt said just one day before the State Tournament.

Coach can back up his claims with the fact that the Knights are sending 13 wrestlers to the big show in Huntsville. That number is tied for the most in school history and is also more than any other 5A team this season.

"We've seen everybody in the state," assistant coach Britt Shaw said of his team's confidence. However Shaw is trying to keep the team grounded and focused on the task at hand. "they know the match ups  they know the most important match is the next match. It doesn't matter if you beat them or you lost to them. The next match is the most important."

Coach's advice rings especially true this weekend when the next match will be on Alabama High School Wrestling's biggest stage. Junior John David Henderson reflects on his past experience at the VBC. "You look around and it gives you cold chills just thinking about it. It's just awesome."
