MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – A Madison man will not go to trial Monday for charges of hindering prosecution.

Friday, Madison County Circuit Judge Donna Pate granted a motion to delay Dr. Iqbal Memon’s trial. Dr. Memon, the father of accused Discovery Middle School shooter Hammad Memon, is accused of trying to help his son escape last year.  Memon’s mother, Safia Memon, also faces the same charges.

Hammad Memon is charged with the murder of classmate Todd Brown at Discovery Middle School in February 2010.  Hammad Memon was awaiting trial at home when his mother allegedly took him to Dallas, Texas in April 2012. The two had Pakistani passports and prosecutors believed they were trying to leave the country.

Dr. Memon’s new trial date is not set.
