HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-- A  secondary level schoolteacher in Huntsville has been placed on paid administrative leave following claims from one of his students.

According to Huntsville City School's spokesman Keith Ward the district was alerted to ongoing investigation by Huntsville Police on Wednesday. Ward would not reveal the name of the teacher or what school the teacher works for, but says the district is cooperating fully with the investigation.

The investigation was launched following accusations that the male teacher inappropriately touched a male student at one of the district's schools.

The boy's mother filed a police report against the teacher on Wednesday, a Huntsville police official confirmed.

"The only witness thus far is the student that was allegedly inappropriately touched," Harry Hobbs, a spokesman for the Huntsville Police Department, said Friday.
