HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - There are a couple of things about the Open Ease that are annoying. First, it’s too loud. Second, it’s a little pricey at $19.99.

The Open Ease is an automatic jar opener.  The two-AA batteries that run it, miraculously, come with it.

The concept is simple. You put the Open Ease on top of the jar you want opened. Then it works like a “mini-transformer” from the Transformer movies.

Two “arms” extend from the bottom of the Open Ease to grip the jar.  There is another mechanism inside thee outside arms that closes and grabs the lid, and turns it.  The theory is that with the jar being held still, the inside mechanism will turn the lid and open the jar.

We tried four jars of various sizes and it opened three on the first try. The fourth jar opened on the second try.  We did have to “help” the outside arms hold the jar in place.

We like the Open Ease and made it a “Deal.” It would be a great item for senior citizens who struggle opening jars, and for people who have trouble opening jars.

Back to the noise issue with the Open Ease product...

It is really loud when it opens a jar. For example, if you wanted to watch a TV on a kitchen counter, the Open Ease would be a huge distraction.
