HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A Huntsville woman faces charges for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident where a 3-year-old boy was hit.

Police say a woman and her child were crossing Triana Boulevard north of Archer.  While they were crossing, traffic started coming their way, so the mother stopped.  The boy darted out in traffic, though, and was hit by a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban.  Police say the driver left the scene.

HEMSI paramedics took the boy to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children by ambulance.  Fortunately, he is expected to be okay.

Police say Conspecion Gomez was driving the SUV.  She is 31 and lives in Huntsville.  Gomez has been arrested, and is charged with leaving the scene of an accident. The boy’s mother is Margarita Marino of Huntsville.  Police did not release the child’s name.
