Arrest Made in Deadly New Hope Shooting

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A 23-year-old Huntsville man is in the Madison County jail charged in connection with a deadly shooting Friday night in New Hope.  According to the Madison County Sheriff's office website, Timothy James Goldsmith is charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Madison County Sheriff's deputies responded to the shooting in New Hope around 9 o'clock Friday night.  The incident happened just off of Old Highway 431.

Deputies tell us a group of young people were gathered at the scene and Goldsmith left the party in anger.   Authorities say he then returned to the party and shot three males.  One of those people died at the scene.  

Two others are now recovering in the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.

Goldsmith was apprehended at an apartment complex in south Huntsville.  Deputies say he surrendered to deputies at the scene.  He's being held on a $195,000 bond.

At this time, Madison County Sheriff's deputies are not revealing the victim's identities.
