HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The Madison County Boathouse and Whitesburg Marina have been dealing with a string of thefts, from items stolen out of cars to large safety boats.

Now one of the thieves has been caught on camera, driving away with his loot: A 40 foot, $20,000 boat trailer used by the Rocket City Rowing Club.

"The individual came in in a pick up truck, drove into our facility hooked up our trailer and drove off," said Joseph Della Silva, President of the Rocket City Rowing club.

Silva says they discovered the same man on the tape had been on their property twice over the weekend.

The rowing club competes across the Southeast, and their next competition is in January.

"The money we use to maintain and sustain our equipment will now have to go to buying a replacement trailer," said Silva.

Silva hopes the public can help them find their trailer.

At 40 feet in length it is far from inconspicuous. It's painted green with the words "Rocket City Rowing Club" painted on both sides in white.

Police say the thieves may have plans to disassemble the trailer and sell it for scraps.

If you've seen the trailer at any point, you are encouraged to contact the Huntsville Police Department or the Rocket City Rowing Club.
