MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Crime scene units spent most of Friday looking for evidence along the Flint River near Winchester Road and Riverton Road.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office first arrived at the scene around 7 a.m.  Investigators say they are searching for evidence in a recent crime, but remained tight-lipped about what they were looking for, and why.

Sheriff's Investigator Brent Patterson would only say they were "searching for evidence in a particular case."

Investigators confirmed an anonymous tip led them to search the area.

They waded in the banks of the river and brought in K9 units to assist as well.

Investigators would not confirm whether the search is related to potential evidence in connection with the murders in Madison County and in Lincoln County, Tennessee in late October.
