COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) –  Colbert County authorities are investigating a shooting between brothers that happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Ronnie May, the shooting happened at a home in the 7000 block of Buddy Durham Road.  Sheriff May says two brothers were fighting when one of the brothers pulled out a gun and the other did the same.

One of the brothers, Steve Murphy, was shot at least three times with a handgun.

Sheriff May said Murphy, 63, was taken to a hospital in Tupelo, Mississippi where he had surgery.  Murphy is in intensive care.

Authorities say a woman who was there during the fight was grazed by one of the bullets that was fired.

Deputies are questioning the man’s brother.  The District Attorney will decide whether or not charges will be filed.
