HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - A one-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon caused Huntsville Police to reroute traffic in both directions on Governors Drive near Monte Sano Boulevard.

According to Huntsville Police Sergeant Marcus Moon, it appears the vehicle lost control, over-corrected and the vehicle then flipped several times. Police say the driver, William Oliver, was ejected from the vehicle.  He was  transported to Huntsville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His female passenger was reportedly in stable condition.

Police say Oliver died of his injuries.  He lived in Birmingham.

Governors Drive was blocked for several hours Sunday evening due to the wreck.
