Cinderella Sunshine Clever, after her arrest in 2011

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A woman has been convicted of torture and willful abuse of a child.  It took the jury about 40 minutes to find Cinderella Clever guilty on Friday morning.

Clever, 31, had been accused of punishing her 5-year-old stepson by putting a clothes pin on his private parts.  She and her husband, Dustin Davis Clever, were both arrested in the case.

Detectives say the two were upset with the boy for “dancing inappropriately.”

All three of their children were placed in DHR custody following the incident.

Cinderella Clever will be sentenced in the next 30 days.  She could face up to 10 years in prison.

Dustin Clever will be tried separately.
