ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – The 6th Annual Athens Storytelling Festival kicks off tonight (Thursday) with a free concert by master storyteller and folk musician John McCutcheon, described by the Washington Post as “folk music’s rustic renaissance man.”

Today and Wednesday, area schoolchildren have been treated to the talents of several of the professional storytellers, including Emmy Award winning Bobby Norfolk, who shared a creative version of Little Red Riding Hood with several hundred children Thursday morning.

The McCutcheon concert begins at 7:30PM in the circus-like tent set up on the Limestone County Courthouse Square. Additional information is available at 2012 Athens Storytelling Festival.
