NASHVILLE, Tn. (WHNT) - Are you trying to learn a musical instrument? Can't find a teacher you like? Why not turn to the web? Skype and other web chat tools are now making it possible to learn from a music master from thousands of miles away!
Jeff Feldman was already an accomplished guitar player and instructor when he decided he wanted to learn a special finger-style of playing. Feldman started browsing the web and after checking out Nashville, Tennessee-based Lance Allen's YouTube videos showing his mastery of the skill - decided to call Allen up for lessons over Skype.
“The technology is so good right now. With my built-in camera and microphone from my computer," Jeff Feldman explained, "I can see exactly what his hands are doing and he can see what I’m doing.”
About half of Allen’s 50 guitar students take lessons over Skype. He charges them $120.00 for four Skype lessons -- twenty bucks more than in-person lessons -- but he says that extra fee is for additional materials.
“After the lesson, I’ll do a video recap of the lesson and I’ll put it in a dropbox," Lance Allen said.
