The Madison Street Festival usually brings big crowds to the city’s historic district. This Saturday, October 6th will be no different. One thing that is? A new app to help you navigate the excitement.

MSF organizers teamed up with local company Sawfish Entertainment to develop a custom app – free for Android and Apple users. You can use it to browse vendors and attractions, artist booths and a musical performance schedule.

“We wanted to give people another way to interact with the festival,” explained publicity chair Stephenie Walker, “So many people have smartphones now.”

A mapping feature will help guide you through the entire festival – offering the fastest path to eats and treats or fun for the kids. “We have a huge children’s area with pony rides and face painting and games,” Walker added.

The free Madison Street Festival app can be downloaded on Android devices through the Google Play store. An iPhone app is pending but should be approved in time for Saturday’s event – so keep checking the app store! Keep an eye out as well for a QR code posted on signs throughout the event. You can scan it with your smartphone to access the app instantly.

The Madison Street Festival will take place in historic Madison starting at 8:30 a.m. (with a big parade kickoff) until about 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6th 2012.
